To support marine conservation projects across the Caribbean region
The Caribbean Ocean Trust is a not-for-profit organization that was created to support marine conservation efforts in the wider Caribbean region.
With a large number of Small Island Developing States (SIDS), the islands of the Eastern Caribbean, in particular, are facing an increasing number of stressors to its marine ecosystem.
As the far-ranging impacts of climate change continue to affect the natural world and our human population, the local governments in the Caribbean often lack the resources and funding to adequately address and prepare for the predicted changes ahead.
Fortunately, the region has a significant number of passionate individuals who are dedicating their time to various marine conservation projects in the Caribbean
Researching existing projects and initiatives throughout the region, Caribbean Ocean Trust vets a growing number of organizations in order to identify the most effective and critically important efforts currently being undertaken.
As tourism continues to drive the economic growth of the region, we are encouraging all visitors to support local efforts to protect and preserve the spectacular natural environment that draws them to the Caribbean for their vacations.
By supporting these important marine conservation initiatives, we can help to maintain the biodiversity and health of the marine environment and help to ensure the livelihoods of the local population who depends on these critical factors.
We can also help to ensure that our children and grandchildren will be able to enjoy the same pristine marine environment that so many of us have been so fortunate to have experienced over the years.
